2 Rajya Sabha MPs resign, Jagan Mohan may get another shock, TDP is going to make a big dent

Two YSRCP Rajya Sabha Members of Parliament (MPs) Dr Bidha Mastan Rao Jadhav and Venkataramana Rao Moppidevi have resigned from Rajya Sabha membership. According to sources, Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar has accepted their resignations. Mastan Rao, whose term was to end in June 2028, had moved from TDP to YSRCP. He is likely to return to TDP, news agency PTI reported quoting sources. Moppidevi, whose term was till June 2026, may also join TDP, they said.

YSRCP strength in Rajya Sabha reduced to 9

The YSRCP’s strength in the Rajya Sabha has come down to nine from 11 after two recent resignations. Meanwhile, NDA’s key ally TDP currently has no representation in the Upper House. According to reports, the TDP may field Mastan Rao in the upcoming by-elections, though Mopidevi Venkata Ramana is reportedly not keen on returning to the Rajya Sabha. If the TDP wins these by-elections, the ruling NDA will get two additional members in the Rajya Sabha. BJP’s allies in the Upper House include the JD(U), NCP, JD(S), RPI(A), Shiv Sena, RLD, RLM, NPP, PMK, Tamil Maanila Congress and UPPL.

YSRCP leader A Kali Krishna Srinivas quits the party

Earlier this month, senior YSRCP leader A Kali Krishna Srinivas resigned from the party citing personal reasons. In a letter addressed to YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, Srinivas, who was also the health minister in the YSRCP government, tendered his resignation. “Due to personal reasons I have decided to stay away from active politics in future. As a result, I am resigning from the role of Eluru Assembly constituency in-charge and Eluru party (YSRCP) president,” he said.
