A farmer died during a protest against the BJP candidate in Patiala, Punjab.

A farmer died while protesting against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Preneet Kaur in Patiala, Punjab. After which Kaur canceled her election campaign program for today and Sunday.

60-year-old farmer Surinder Pal Singh had fallen on the ground during a demonstration in Sihra village. At the same time, the protesting farmers alleged that Singh had fallen due to the push of the security personnel. BJP candidate Kaur’s team has also released a video in which the farmer can be seen falling on the ground during the protest.

The farmers had protested against Kaur with black flags and had stopped Kaur’s vehicle. The policemen were requesting him not to stop the car. Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Samiti leader Sarwan Singh Pandher said Singh was taken to Rajpura Civil Hospital where doctors declared him brought dead.

During the Lok Sabha election campaign, BJP candidates and leaders are facing opposition from farmers. BJP candidate Kaur expressed grief over the death of the farmer. He said in his condolence message, I am deeply saddened by the demise of farmer Surinder Pal Singh. He assured that he and his family will stand by him till his last breath.

Farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal has demanded compensation and government job to the family members of the deceased farmer. He also demanded registration of FIR in this matter. The farmer leader said that the last rites will not be performed until a case is registered in this matter.
