The third seeded pair of Abhay and Joshna then defeated the second seeded pair of Tong Sze Wing and Tang Ming Hong 11-8, 10-11, 11-5 in the mixed doubles final. Velavan said in a release, “I am very happy for Abhay who performed so well this week. We had full confidence and we kept improving. ” Joshna, who received the Padma Shri award this year, said, “Playing for India again means a lot to me as I was away from the game for the last five months due to knee surgery.
