Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance has lashed out at Kamala Harris, saying she can go to hell if she wants to criticise former president Donald Trump for attending a ceremony honouring 13 US soldiers killed during the chaotic exit from Afghanistan. Vance’s comments came in response to a question about an alleged “controversy” at Arlington National Cemetery where Trump visited Section 60, where veterans from post-9/11 conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan are buried. The controversy centred on whether a Trump campaign photographer was allowed to be present.

The Ohio senator then turned his focus to Afghanistan and attacked Harris over her handling of the withdrawal of US forces from the war-torn nation after the fall of Kabul due to the Taliban advance.
Vance said that three years ago, 13 brave, innocent Americans were killed and they died because Kamala Harris refused to do her job and there wasn’t a single investigation or a single shooting. He called the vice president “deplorable” and said the story should be that “Kamala Harris is so asleep at the wheel that she won’t even investigate what happened, and she wants to yell at Donald Trump because he came over.”
