Air India Express operations slowly back on track, disrupted due to strike by crew members

New Delhi. Air India Express crew members have started returning to work. With this, the airline’s operations gradually started improving on Friday. Flight services were largely disrupted due to the strike by crew members. A section of crew members had gone on strike in protest against alleged mismanagement at the airline. He announced the withdrawal of the strike on Tuesday night. With this, the airline management withdrew the dismissal letter of 25 crew members.

The Tata Group-owned airline had canceled 170 flights since Tuesday night due to the strike. Air India Express operates around 380 flights daily. The company curtailed operations due to the strike. The official said on Friday that the situation is expected to return to normal in the next two days. The crew members who were on strike are now returning to work. The airline is helping them obtain ‘fitness’ certificates. The official also said that most of the international flights are in the evening time. Operations are expected to improve from Friday with the availability of more crew members. The airline operates an average of 120 international flights and 260 domestic flights daily.

Air India Express had canceled 85 flights or about 23 per cent of its total daily capacity on Thursday due to shortage of crew members. The airline said after the strike ended Thursday that it would help quickly restore flight schedules and apologized to passengers who were affected by the cancellations. A section of crew members had reported calling in ‘sick’ in protest against alleged mismanagement at the airline. After that Air India Express had to cancel flights.
