The prize money for the Indian men’s and women’s teams that won gold medals in the 45th Chess Olympiad has been announced. AICF President Nitin Narang announced during the felicitation ceremony on Wednesday that the winning teams in the Olympiad will be given a prize money of Rs 3 crore 20 lakh.

Every member of the winning team will get Rs 25 lakh each, while the coaches of the men’s and women’s teams Abhijeet Kunte and Sreenath Narayan will be given Rs 15 lakh each. Indian team chief Grandmaster Dibyendu Barua will be given Rs 10 lakh and assistant coaches will be given Rs 7.5 lakh.

India’s male and female chess players created history by becoming winners in the 45th Chess Olympiad. For the first time in the 97-year history of the Chess Olympiad, sons and daughters won the gold medal. The men’s team defeated Slovenia 3.5-0.5 in the 11th and final round and the women’s team defeated Azerbaijan by the same margin. Earlier, the men won bronze in 2014 and 2022 and the women won bronze in 2022.
