Raipur. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said on Sunday that drug trafficking is not only a challenge for India, but it is an international problem. He said that with determination and strategy, the country can overcome this problem. Shah addressed a meeting on the drug scenario in Chhattisgarh at a hotel in Nava Raipur today. Gradually this resolution has become the resolution of 130 crore population. I believe that the resolution of a drug-free India is very important in making a prosperous, safe and glorious India. ” He said, “Illegal drug trade is not only a challenge for India, but it is an international problem. Shah said, “The aim of illegal drug trade is not only to ruin the youth but the illegal money generated from drug trade is also used in anti-national activities. It is also our national responsibility to make the country drug-free with a zero tolerance policy.”
The Union Minister also expressed concern over drug abuse in Chhattisgarh and said, “The percentage of drug abuse in Chhattisgarh is 1.45 which is higher than the national average. Chhattisgarh shares its border with seven states including Odisha and Andhra Pradesh from where drugs are smuggled.” He said that 4.98 per cent of ganja in Chhattisgarh is used for intoxication which is higher than the national average of 2.83 per cent, which is a matter of concern for us. The Union Minister said that drug smugglers are changing their ways and are moving from natural drugs to synthetic drugs, which causes the most harm. He emphasized on focusing on scientific investigation with ‘top down’ and ‘bottom up’ approach to eliminate the drug trade network.
Shah said, if a packet of drugs is found in a small shop, we have to investigate where it came from and where it was manufactured. To eliminate the background of this entire system, we have to develop the habit of investigating in a scientific manner. We have to adopt a top-down and bottom-up approach. He said, I believe that all rehabilitation and de-addiction centers should play an important role in our fight. The one who takes drugs is a victim of this system and the one who deals in drugs is a criminal. Keeping this in mind, we have to fight against drugs.
