Armand Duplantis once again set the world record in the pole vault with an effort of 6.26 meters during the Silesia Diamond League competition in Poland on Sunday. Duplantis, 24, born in Louisiana, competes for his mother’s country of Sweden. Duplantis improved his previous world record by one centimeter. This is the third time Duplantis has set a world record this year.
Duplantis’ first world record also came in Poland in February 2020. He said, “Everything just came together to allow me to do this. I know a lot of people came here to see me jump, so I wanted to do well for them. This year I focused on the Olympics, the record came naturally because I was in good shape. So I am not surprised by today’s record, but I am thankful.”
However, on the other hand, India’s top 3000 meter steeplechase athlete Avinash Sable finished 14th among world class athletes in the Silesia Diamond League here on Sunday. Asian Games champion 29-year-old Sable finished 14th among 20 runners with a time of eight minutes 29.96 seconds, three runners failed to complete the race.
