Around 15 people injured due to falling of very hot material at cement factory in Andhra Pradesh

At least 15 people were injured, five of them seriously, when hot material fell on a cement factory here in Andhra Pradesh on Sunday, a police official said.

Nandigam Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) B Ravi Kiran said the workers were working on the second floor of the Budawada Ultra Tech Cement factory located in Jaggayyapeta mandal of NTR district.

Meanwhile, some very hot material used in cement manufacturing fell on them from the third floor. Kiran told PTI, “There was no explosion, but a large amount of material fell from the third floor to the second floor. Many people got burnt due to this hot material.”

According to the ACP, the incident took place around 11.30 am and the injured included local and migrant workers. Meanwhile, some workers broke into the cement factory office and broke some window panes and vandalised the premises, following which the police had to reach the spot and control the situation.

Reacting to the industrial accident, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu directed officials to ensure better treatment for the injured workers.

According to an official statement, Naidu directed officials to submit a report on the cause of the accident and take action against those responsible.
