Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Saturday that Assam Police sent back 17 Bangladeshis, including eight children, across the border in the early hours. Sarma had warned about the Rohingyas in India, saying that infiltration has increased significantly and the threat of demographic invasion is both real and serious. He said Assam is guarding only a part of the India-Bangladesh border, but a large area is still unprotected.

Praising the Assam Police, Himanta Biswa Sarma also revealed the names of the alleged infiltrators – Harul Lamin, Umai Khunsum, Mohammad Ismail, Sansida Begum, Rufia Begum, Fatima Khatoon, Mozur Rahman, Habi Ullah, Sobika Begum. Earlier, Sarma had said that I have seen demographic attack in Assam, Jharkhand and West Bengal. Sarma said, “When the census is conducted, there will be shocking news on the demography of the states of eastern India.”

The situation is different in Assam because people are very aware of the demographic onslaught, he said. Sarma said that during the Assam agitation against illegal foreigners, people had warned that the problems faced by the state would eventually affect the entire country, and we are seeing that happening now. He said that if the voter lists of 2024 and 2019 are compared, the demographic change will be evident.
