The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court on Saturday summoned the DNA report of the fetus aborted by the victim in the Ayodhya rape case. The bench has ordered the Director of the Forensic Science Laboratory to submit the report in a week and has fixed September 30 as the next date for hearing the case.
The order was passed by a single bench of Justice Pankaj Bhatia on the bail plea of 71-year-old accused Mueed Ahmed. The accused claimed that he has been implicated in the case for political reasons and no documents have been given to him.
Opposing the petition, Additional Advocate General VK Shahi on behalf of the state government argued that the case is of a very serious nature and the victim is a minor. He said that after the incident, the victim also became pregnant and after the abortion, the sample has been sent for DNA testing.
