According to media reports, he snatched an officer’s weapon while being taken from jail and opened fire on the police. Two police officers were also injured in the incident. Akshay Shinde is accused of sexually abusing two nursery class girls in the school. After his arrest in the Badlapur school case, Akshay Shinde’s wife has filed a case against him. Shinde was arrested on August 17 for allegedly sexually assaulting two girls aged four and five years in the school toilet. The incident led to protests and public outrage in the area. Shinde worked as a sweeper in the school. The local police were initially investigating the case, but following public outrage over serious lapses in the police investigation, the Maharashtra government formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The hearing of this case is also going on in the Bombay High Court after taking suo motu cognizance. To ensure strict punishment for Akshay Shinde, the state government has appointed Ujjwal Nikam, who was the public prosecutor in the Mumbai attacks.
