Badlapur sexual harassment case: Bombay HC takes suo motu cognizance of matter; hearing today.The male attendant, who was arrested on August 17, is accused of attacking children in the school toilet. The local court has extended his police custody till August 26.The government has ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by senior IPS officer Arti Singh to probe the alleged attack on young students.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has promised decisive action against the school concerned, saying the case will be investigated swiftly and those responsible will not be able to escape accountability.
In response to the incident, the school management has suspended the principal, a class teacher and a female attendant. In addition, the state government has suspended three police officials, including a senior police inspector, for alleged negligence in handling the sexual abuse case.
Opposition parties have criticised the authorities, claiming that the parents of the victims were forced to wait for 11 hours at the Badlapur police station before their complaints were attended to.

Earlier, NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar said the protests reflected the tremendous unrest among the people as the government had not paid as much attention to crime as it should have.“What happened in Badlapur yesterday (protest on railway track) was an angry reaction of the people,” he said.
