Former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray addressed a ‘Sadbhavna Diwas’ programme to mark the birth anniversary of late Rajiv Gandhi. Taking a dig at the BJP government, Thackeray said even though the Congress and the undivided Shiv Sena were arch rivals in the past, they never acted in a spirit of “vendetta”. “Bal Thackeray had strongly criticised Rajiv Gandhi (when Gandhi was the prime minister), but I never remember the CBI, ED or Income Tax knocking on the doors of Shiv Sena leaders,” he said, in an apparent dig at the BJP-led government.

What must Bala Saheb be thinking! He used to abuse Congress… Today those who are talking about Hindutva and Savarkar are criticizing each other.They abuse ji-Uddhav ji is strangling him.
However, Uddhav, who had already predicted the criticism coming his way, said during the event that I wore the Congress scarf as a sign of respect for the party. I am sure my pictures (wearing the scarf) will be circulated, but that is why I wore it.
