BCCI gave a big update regarding the head coach, Jai Shah said that the head coach will be with the team before the Sri Lanka series

The Indian cricket team gave a memorable farewell to its head coach Rahul Dravid by winning the ICC T20 World Cup. After this, questions are being raised about the name of the head coach of Team India. A decision is yet to be taken regarding this, meanwhile BCCI secretary Jay Shah said that Team India will play with a new coach in Sri Lanka.

The decision on the new coach of the Indian cricket team will be taken by the end of July. Jai Shah told PTI that the BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee had conducted interviews for the new coach of India. Two candidates have been shortlisted by this committee for the responsibility of the head coach, out of which one name will be finalized soon. He said that the Indian team will get its new head coach before the Sri Lanka series.

Currently, the Indian team will go to Sri Lanka to play three T20s and three ODIs from July 27. Expressing happiness over India winning the ICC title after 11 years, Shah praised Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Ravindra Jadeja have retired from T20 international cricket. Also, Jai Shah said, “The same captain was there last year and here too. We won all the matches except the final last year too. This time we worked harder and won the title. If we compare with other teams, experience matters. From Rohit to Virat, everyone performed brilliantly. Experience made a lot of difference.”

The BCCI secretary further said that a good player knows when to retire. We saw it yesterday. Rohit’s strike rate is better than many young players. Also, when asked whether he is seeing a phase of change after the retirement of these three? Answering this, he said that the change did happen when the three veterans retired. On Hardik Pandya’s all-round performance and the possibility of him becoming the captain after Rohit, Shah said that the selectors will decide the captaincy. We will talk to them and announce it. A lot of questions were being raised on Hardik’s form but we and the selectors trusted him and he lived up to it.

Shah also said that India A team will tour Australia later this year. BCCI is planning a felicitation ceremony for the Indian team but due to storm warning, Barbados airport is closed and the team is stuck here. Shah said, like you, we are also stuck here. We will think about the ceremony after reaching India.
