Before Maharashtra elections, NDA ally made this special demand, said- 8 to 10 seats are needed

Republican Party of India (Founded) [आरपीआई (ए)] BJP chief and Union Minister Ramdas Athawale on Tuesday announced that he has informed his party’s request to contest on eight to ten seats in the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. Athawale said he conveyed this demand to senior BJP leader and Maharashtra election in-charge Bhupendra Yadav as part of the ongoing seat-sharing talks within the Mahayuti alliance.

The grand alliance comprising the BJP, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena and Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) is gearing up for the assembly elections in November. Athawale stressed the importance of RPI(A)’s participation and said the party has a distinct vote bank. Since there are 288 seats in the current assembly, in which the BJP has the largest share of 103 MLAs, the allocation of seats will be crucial in shaping the electoral scenario.
The assembly also includes 40 MLAs from Shiv Sena, 41 from NCP, 40 from Congress and 15 from Shiv Sena (UBT). Apart from his election discussions, Athawale also highlighted his recent meeting with Mumbai Guardian Minister Deepak Kesarkar regarding preparations for the memorial of Dr BR. 6th December is the death anniversary of Ambedkar. Athawale said around Rs 11 crore has been allocated for the event, with arrangements being made at key locations such as Shivaji Park and Chaitya Bhoomi to accommodate the expected influx of visitors.
