The dates for the assembly elections have been announced in Haryana. Due to this, political activities have increased a lot in the entire state. While Congress is trying to come to power by ending its 10-year exile in the state, on the other hand, BJP wants to retain the seat of Haryana by winning this election for the third consecutive time. Meanwhile, the eyes of the people of the entire country including Haryana are fixed on some special leaders. For example, Kumari Shailaja, who is counted among the veteran leaders of Haryana Congress and five-time Lok Sabha MP, is counted among the veteran leaders of Haryana Congress.
It is believed that Shailja wants to leave the Lok Sabha and go to the Assembly. If this happens, then the former Chief Minister of the state and veteran Congress leader Bhupendra Singh Hooda will be more worried than the BJP. At present, the Congress has not declared any face as the Chief Ministerial candidate in the Assembly elections. But, due to the way Bhupendra Hooda is leading the election campaign of the Congress, he is being considered a strong contender for the post of CM. After Kiran Chaudhary joining the BJP, Randeep Surjewala joining central politics and Kumari Shailja being elected as a Lok Sabha MP from Sirsa seat, Bhupendra Hooda was considering himself ahead in the race for the post of CM in Congress.
In such a situation, Kumari Selja has definitely created problems for Bhupendra Hooda by expressing her intention to contest the assembly elections. Bhupendra Hooda, who has maintained his dominance over the organization in the state, is the supreme leader of Haryana Congress. During this time, he has always received full support from Delhi. It is clear from Selja’s statement that if she contests the assembly elections, then another face will emerge in the race for the CM post. Bhupendra Singh Hooda comes from the Jat community, while Kumari Selja belongs to the Dalit community.
Congress’ politics is based on Jat and Dalit votes in the whole of Haryana. Congress gave a tough fight to BJP in the 2019 assembly elections on the strength of the Hooda and Shailja duo. During that time, Shailja was the PCC president and Bhupendra Hooda was handling the command of CLP, but now there is a rift between the two. Hooda and Shailja have their own separate camps in the state party unit and they are seen challenging each other. Hooda has maintained chemistry with state president Uday Bhan. On the other hand, Shailja has better coordination with Randeep Surjewala in the party. Due to the kind of political atmosphere in Haryana, the return of Congress is expected. In such a situation, the challenge for Congress is to maintain political balance between Shailja and Hooda.
