A major terrorist attack has taken place in Pakistan’s Punjab province. The terrorists have targeted a school van. The school van was fired upon continuously. Two children are reported dead. According to Geo News, at least two children were killed and five were injured in the firing by gunmen on a school van in Dheri Kot of Attock. He said that the age of the children injured in the gun attack is between five and 12 years. They have been taken to the hospital. The children killed in the attack include a nine-year-old and a 10-year-old child, while the five injured include two eight-year-olds, one seven-year-old, one 12-year-old and one four-year-old child.

Two children – both girls named Arwa Fatima and Rameen Shafiq – died on the spot. Rescue officials who reached the spot after the attack shifted the injured children and the bodies to Asfandyar Bukhari District Hospital Attock. In the wake of the attack, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sought a report from Rawalpindi Commissioner Abdul Amir Khattak. The chief minister also expressed deep grief over the death of two children in the attack. CM Maryam also directed the concerned officials to provide the best treatment facilities to the children who sustained injuries.

Deputy Commissioner of Attock Rao Atif Raza told Geo News that the gun attack on the school van was the result of personal enmity of the driver. He said that a forest officer and his friend were killed last month due to the same enmity and the van driver – Afzal – was attacked to avenge the murder. The DC said that the driver was injured in the attack, but the children were also attacked. According to the DC, two girls sitting in the passenger seat along with the driver died in the attack, while the driver himself is injured.
