Pappu Yadav on Monday announced “full support” to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Bima Bharti in the by-election to Rupauli assembly seat. Yadav had defeated Bharti in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. “Ideology is a big thing, it is disappearing in politics today,” Yadav said on X.

Patna. Independent MP Rajesh Ranjan alias Pappu Yadav on Monday announced “full support” to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Bima Bharti in the by-election to the Rupauli assembly seat, where Yadav had defeated Bharti in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections. “Ideology is a big thing, it is vanishing in politics today. But I am a bearer of ideological politics, I am with the Congress ideology. So dismissing all personal hatred towards me, I have full support for the Congress-backed candidate in the Rupauli assembly constituency,” Yadav said on X.

Before the Lok Sabha elections, Pappu Yadav had expressed his desire to merge his ‘Jan Adhikar Party’ with Congress and contest the Lok Sabha elections on the party ticket, but after RJD fielded Bima Bharti, Yadav contested the elections as an independent candidate. After facing defeat in the Lok Sabha elections, Bharti is again in the electoral fray as a RJD candidate.

Bharti, who left Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal United (JDU) and joined RJD a few months ago, had resigned from the assembly membership, due to which the by-election on Rupauli assembly seat became necessary. In the Rupauli assembly seat by-election, Bharti is contesting against JDU candidate Kaladhar Prasad Mandal and independent Shankar Singh. Shankar Singh was earlier an MLA of Lok Janshakti Party (LJP).
