BJP MP Tejasvi Surya upset with traffic jam in Bengaluru, made this special appeal to the Congress government

BJP MP Tejasvi Surya on Wednesday highlighted the traffic problems in Bengaluru city, saying that we are spending more time in traffic than being with our family and loved ones. He also urged Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar to call an urgent meeting with elected representatives and traffic management experts to resolve the issue. According to the MP from South Bengaluru, the traffic situation in Bengaluru is getting worse with each passing day. Even on Sundays, traffic, which used to be relatively easy earlier, is now becoming as nightmarish as other days of the week.

In a series of tweets on Twitter, the BJP MP said that every day, we are adding thousands of new private vehicles on the roads which is only adding to the problem. Even running errands from neighbourhood shops takes a lot of time. City roads, including small lanes in residential areas, are far beyond their carrying capacity, and there is no space to build more roads. Anyway, more roads mean more private vehicles.

Tejasvi Surya said that clearly, we are not doing enough to reduce the number of private vehicles on the roads and increase public transport options. The BMTC is overcrowded. The metro is so crowded during peak hours that you feel suffocated. The overpriced Uber Ola taxis are not reliable and also take a lot of time to reach your location. Autorickshaws simply cancel your ride. Our footpaths are not pedestrian friendly and most places are encroached by hawkers. The roads are in a pathetic condition, with potholes and unscientific bumps all over the city. The BBMP and its officials turn a blind eye to all commercial developments in residential areas, which further increases traffic density. In short, the quality of life is getting worse every day.
