The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has called for a 12-hour “Bangla Bandh” today in retaliation to the brutal police action against peaceful protesters during the ‘Nabanna Abhijan’ march in West Bengal. The bandh will end at 6 pm. The BJP is fiercely attacking the Mamata government. BJP spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi has once again targeted Mamata Banerjee and her government today. He said that after derailing the investigation, saving the accused, destroying evidence, now a new strategy of threatening doctors is being seen in West Bengal. You would not have seen such a bandh before, where on one side a bandh is called and on the other side the leaders of the ruling party go and try to get the shops opened.

The BJP leader said that after this the Chief Minister comes and addresses the press. She is saying that I do not want an FIR to be filed so that career is not ruined and there is no problem in getting passport and visa. He said that the BJP clearly wants to say that with the manipulation of words, Mamata Banerjee has directly threatened the doctors and in a way, the work of questioning their career has been done with the help of a web of words.
He questioned and said that I want to tell West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata ji that Madam, the issue of justice for this victim is not an election issue. It is a matter of proving the crime in the court of law on the basis of evidence and getting the culprits punished. Whoever is in power, justice will be in his favour! This thinking is the most dangerous thinking for the Constitution. Attacking TMC, he said that they are saying, ‘Let’s hold elections.’ But I am saying that getting justice for the victim is not about winning votes, it is about convicting the culprits on the basis of evidence in the court.

He asked how can the Constitution be in danger? For example, look no further than West Bengal! He said that I want to say with sadness that this is the same Mamta ji who had led a big movement and struggle against rape. When Mamta Banerjee ji was with us during Atal ji’s government, she herself had told that the police of the communist government in West Bengal had attacked her so much that they left her thinking she was dead. I want to ask that Mamta ji, today your sensitivity has become so dead that instead of getting them punished, you are trying to save the culprits.
