New Delhi. Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh said that the government has prepared a blueprint to create 4.5-6 crore jobs in the textile sector by 2030. He said that efforts are currently being made to increase the market size of this region from $165 billion to $350 billion. Addressing a press conference on the 100-day program of the textile ministry, Singh said, the 100-day draft that we have prepared includes attracting investment worth lakhs of crores of rupees in the textile sector going forward. We have prepared a draft to create 4.5 crore to 6 crore jobs by 2030.
He said the seven PM-Mitra Integrated Mega Textile Parks approved earlier will see an investment of Rs 70,000 crore once fully operational, creating 21 lakh jobs. The minister took a dig at the previous Congress-led governments, saying they did nothing in the first three months, while the Modi government has started with a 100-day draft. Singh said, earlier when a new government was formed, they used to use abusive language for three months. Which he (making a clear reference to Rahul Gandhi) is currently doing abroad.
On the other hand, the Modi government has prepared a blueprint for development in the first three months. He said that there is a plan to take the size of India’s textile sector to US$ 350 billion. To reach the size of US$ 350 billion in the coming days, we are preparing for everything, be it synthetic, viscose or natural fibres, the minister said. He said that more than 350 brands across the world buy clothes from India and we should focus not only on exports but also domestic figures.
