Border Security Force chief reviews security in Jammu and Kashmir border areas ahead of elections. BSF Director General Daljit Singh Choudhary on Thursday visited forward areas along the International Border in Jammu frontier and reviewed the situation and operational preparedness of the troops, officials said.

He also interacted with the troops deployed on the ground and the top officers briefed him on the security measures. This is the DG’s first visit to the Jammu frontier after taking over as the force chief recently. Jammu-Kathua Range DIG Shiv Kumar Sharma met Choudhary at the Pansar border outpost and discussed security measures and cooperation between the troops and police in the area.

His visit to the border area comes ahead of the three-phase elections in Jammu and Kashmir starting from September 18. Officials said a three-tier security grid is being strengthened along the international border and the Line of Control, with the deployment of about 1,000 BSF troops and recently trained border police personnel, supported by Village Defence Groups (VDGs).
