Congress has sent KC Venugopal and senior leader Salman Khurshid to resolve the seat sharing issue for the assembly elections in the Union Territory. It is being told that both the leaders have left for Srinagar on Monday on the instructions of the party. According to information received from top Congress sources, the party is demanding to contest at least 8 seats out of the 24 seats in the first phase. If they are to be believed, the National Conference is offering 35 seats to the Congress as against the demand of 37 seats out of the total 90 seats. Deliberations are going on on this, the leaders of both the parties are in touch. It is believed that if the talks do not move forward, then the Congress is considering contesting the elections alone. According to sources, the picture of the alliance will be clear by August 26 afternoon.
