Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday reacted to the bulldozer action, saying it is completely unacceptable and must stop. Her reaction comes a few days after the house of a man who allegedly resorted to violence during a protest in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh was demolished. Priyanka Gandhi wrote on Twitter that if someone is accused of a crime, then only the court can decide his crime and his punishment. But punishing the family of the accused as soon as the allegation is made, taking away the roof from their heads, not following the law, disobeying the court, demolishing the house of the accused as soon as the allegation is made – this is not justice. This is the height of barbarism and injustice.
The Congress General Secretary further wrote that there should be a difference between those who make laws, those who keep laws and those who break laws. Governments cannot behave like criminals. Following the law, constitution, democracy and humanity is the minimum condition of governance in a civilized society. One who cannot follow Rajdharma can neither do good for the society nor the country. He clearly said that bulldozer justice is completely unacceptable, it should be stopped. Let us tell you that recently the bungalow of an accused in the incident of stone pelting on the police station in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh was demolished with a bulldozer.
The house of a man who allegedly resorted to violence during a protest against the remarks of saint Ramgiri Maharaj was demolished on Thursday. Ramgiri Maharaj had allegedly made objectionable remarks against Islam during a religious programme at Shah Panchale village in Sinnar taluka of Maharashtra’s Nashik district a few days ago. Members of the Muslim community had organised a protest on Wednesday but it turned violent, leaving two policemen injured and several vehicles damaged.
