CEO of Nothing stops working from home, suggests those who disagree to work from home

The CEO of British smartphone startup Nothing has taken a big step. On one hand, the culture of work from home has increased a lot after the spread of the corona virus infection. On the other hand, Nothing, a company challenging Apple’s dominance, has decided to bring a big change.
Now Nothing has decided to end the work from home policy. Now the work from office culture is going to return in Nothing Company. Nothing Company CEO Carl Pei has given this information in an email written to the employees. According to this email, he defended the requirement for a total of 450 employees to come to work five days a week, which contradicts the workplace policy that supports remote work since the company’s inception four years ago.

“We have come a long way in a very short time. We are the only company to have built a smartphone business in the last 10 years. We are the fastest-growing smartphone brand in India, growing 567% year-on-year. Yet, we are at 0.1% of our potential. With the solid start we have made, we truly have a chance to build a generational technology company that can change the world. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity,” he said in an email to employees. We have earned it together, and now it’s time to double it,”.

The company’s CEO Carl Pei said that while remote or hybrid work environments have proven successful for some companies, they do not support the high standards of ambition and speed needed to meet Nothing’s goals. He identified three primary reasons for the change—the company’s goal to become a tech company that defines a generation, the need for close collaboration in the production of physical goods, and the importance of creativity and innovation in outperforming more established rivals.

He said, “First of all, we make physical products, where design, engineering, manufacturing and quality have to work closely together to deliver a product to our users. This is not a good fit for working remotely.” The CEO added, “We are not trying to build a great business that a big company acquires, we want to realize our full potential to become a generation-defining company. And we are really serious about moving fast. Working remotely is not compatible with the high ambition level and high speed.”

Mr Pei’s email also mentioned that the new mandate will come into effect in two months and that he plans to hold a town hall in London to address any concerns raised by staff members. The CEO also advised staff members who were unable to work five days a week to find alternative jobs. “We know this is not the right kind of setup for everyone, and that’s OK. We need to look for a mutual fit. You need to find an environment where you thrive, and we need to find people who want to grow fully with us for decades to come,” he concluded.
