The main agenda of the 93rd annual meeting of the Indian Cricket Board to be held on Sunday will be the election of two representatives of India in the ICC meetings and the search for a new secretary after the outgoing secretary Jay Shah is not on the agenda. The meeting is also important because the ICC Conclave is going to be held in Dubai after the Women’s T20 World Cup in UAE.
The final of the Women’s T20 World Cup is in Dubai on October 20 and till then Shah will remain the BCCI Secretary. He will take over the post of ICC Chairman on December 1. Shah has been representing India at ICC meetings since the end of Sourav Ganguly’s tenure as BCCI president.
The current chairman of the board, Roger Binny, is an alternate director who can represent the BCCI at ICC meetings but this has not happened yet. There is only one year left in his tenure, so it remains to be seen whether he will remain the alternate director or someone else will be nominated. Selection of secretary is not on the agenda. The members gathered here for the inauguration of the new campus of the National Cricket Academy near the international airport can talk among themselves on this.
At present, two names are being considered, Anil Patel, Secretary of Gujarat Cricket Association and Rohan Jaitley, who is also the President of Delhi and District Cricket Association. It is understood that Patel is leading in the race. The AGM includes representatives of the Indian Cricket Association and two from the General Assembly, the appointment of sub-committees and the membership of the Indian Cricket Association until 2024. Approving the annual budget of 25 is also included. The IPL Governing Council meeting has also been called here on Saturday and the retention rules will be discussed in it.
