Cisco company is now going to build its new manufacturing unit in Chennai, India. A manufacturing unit will be built in Chennai which is a multi-year investment plan. The company has expressed its commitment to build production capacity in the country.
 
With this investment the company will generate more than US$1.3 billion annually from combined exports and domestic production. The company said the plant is expected to create 1,200 jobs in Tamil Nadu. Let us tell you that Cisco has partnered with Flex for the construction and expansion of the manufacturing facility in Chennai. It will initially focus on Cisco’s Network Convergence System (NCS) 540 series routers.
 
Regarding this, Cisco said that this state-of-the-art site will produce a range of Cisco’s routing and switching products to meet the rapidly growing technology needs of organizations in India and around the world. The Chennai-based manufacturing unit has been inaugurated by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. Cisco President and CEO Chuck Robbins, Cisco India and SAARC President Daisy Chittilapilli and state and local government officials were also present. The opening marks a significant expansion milestone in Cisco’s global manufacturing footprint, a Cisco release said.
 
Cisco has successfully built out the Chennai site in collaboration with Flex. This has brought advanced telecommunication technology that can help connect citizens in India and globally. This is the next milestone in Cisco and Flex’s 25-year long-term partnership to power manufacturing around the world with speed, flexibility, and sustainable practices. The facility, which will initially focus on Cisco’s NCS 540 series of routers, represents the first phase of the company’s multi-year investment plan.
 
Cisco said, “Significant innovations and technological advancements are planned for the next phase, including printed circuit board assembly components with multiple layers; products that sometimes require thousands of individual components; and industrial-grade Products that are built to withstand severe environmental conditions.” Additionally, Cisco is broadening its technology manufacturing capabilities to enable additional customers and market segments.
