Announcing the alliance, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah said, “It is a matter of great joy that we have started this campaign that both of us will fight together against the forces that are trying to divide the people here. The alliance of the whole country and India was formed so that we can fight against the forces that want to communalise, divide and break the country. Today we have completed the talks and coordinated in a very good cordial atmosphere. Congress and National Conference will fight the elections together.”

We have discussed this and we have made a formula which our leaders will now share. We will fight together, we will win Jammu and Kashmir. We will form the government in Jammu and Kashmir.’
