Congress has given ticket to Chiranjiv Rao, son-in-law of former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, from Rewari assembly seat of Haryana. He is currently also the sitting MLA from this seat. This assembly seat has been the stronghold of Chiranjiv Rao’s family. Congress candidate Chiranjiv is married to Lalu Yadav’s daughter Anushka Yadav. His father Captain Ajay Singh Yadav is a veteran Congress leader. He is currently the chairman of OBC Congress. Ajay Singh Yadav has also handled the portfolios of Finance, Revenue, Irrigation, PWD, Jail, Electricity, Forest and Social Welfare Ministry in the Haryana government.
On the announcement of ticket by the party, Chiranjiv Rao said that I have been coming among you people and am well aware of your problems. At present we are not in power but if we have your blessings, we will come to power and all your pending work will be completed. His father Ajay Singh Yadav has been MLA from Rewari seat for five consecutive times from 1991 to 2014. He was defeated by BJP’s Randhir Singh in the 2014 elections. Randhir Singh had got 81 thousand 103 votes then. Ajay Singh Yadav was at third place with 31 thousand 471 votes.
After this, Ajay Yadav’s son Chiranjiv Rao won the state elections held in 2019. Then Rao defeated BJP candidate Sunil Kumar. Chiranjiv Rao got 43 thousand 870 votes. While BJP’s Sunil Kumar got 42 thousand 553 votes. Congress candidate Chiranjiv Rao said during his election campaign that the people of the state are fed up with the slogans of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The BJP government did not fulfill all the promises it made. Chiranjiv Rao said these things in public meetings held at various places.
The Congress leader said that even during the Corona period, the BJP leaders did not take care of the public. People lost their jobs, people were dying of hunger but the BJP leaders did not even look out of their homes. Chiranjiv Rao held public meetings in villages Mandhiya Kalan, Khalilpuri, Majra Sheoraj, Baliyar Kalan, Baliyar Khurd, Jonavas, Rozka, Rasgan, Dungarvas, Qutubpur, Vikas Nagar, Hazarivas, Azad Nagar, Mohalla Rambas. Mundawar MLA Lalit Yadav was also present. Chiranjiv Rao said that the Congress has prepared its manifesto according to the needs of the people, whereas the BJP has only done the formality. The BJP has copied the Congress manifesto.
