Congress chief whip and sitting MLA from Rohtak Bharat Bhushan Batra, three-time MLA from Kalanaur Shankutala Khatak and youth leader Balram Dangi from Meham filed their nomination papers in the presence of former chief minister and leader of opposition Bhupinder Singh Hooda. Hooda, five-time MLA from Garhi-Sampla Kiloi assembly constituency, also filed his nomination papers in Sampla town. Addressing a public meeting in Rohtak city, Hooda said that when people gave him the opportunity to lead the Congress government in the state from 2005 to 2014, he worked to ensure the overall development of Rohtak city.
Hooda claimed that during this period not only many prestigious educational institutions were opened but also many new highways were constructed. All the internal roads of the city were carpeted, waterlogging problem was solved and other basic facilities were provided to reduce traffic. Former Chief Minister Hooda said that health services have also improved but the BJP has done nothing in the last 10 years. Speaking on the occasion, party candidate Batra said that the BJP has ruined Rohtak city in the last 10 years.
According to him, people are neither getting drinking water nor electricity. They have to face problems like waterlogging, sewer overflow, traffic jams etc. People are forced to run around government offices for property ID and PPP. We will rebuild Rohtak city when we come to power. Meanwhile, Balram Dangi, son of former minister and senior Congress leader Anand Singh Dangi, filed his nomination in Meham town, where a public meeting was also organised. Addressing the gathering, Hooda said that Congress will release its manifesto soon.
Along with this, the former CM said, “If the Congress government is formed, things like pension of Rs. 6,000 to the elderly, LPG cylinder for Rs. 500, 300 units of free electricity, free treatment of the poor, OPS to employees, 2 lakh permanent recruitments and making temporary employees permanent will be done.” The former CM claimed that during the tenure of the Congress, the state had become number one in development, prosperity and progress, but in 10 years, the BJP has made this prosperous state number one in unemployment, inflation, crime, drug addiction and atrocities on Dalits.
