Birth and education

Dalai Lama was born on 6 July 1935 in Taktser region of Northeast Tibet. He was born in a simple farmer family. He started his primary education at the age of 6. His education was arranged at Kumbum Monastery. In 1949, at the age of 23, he gave his final examination at Jokhang Temple, Lhasa. Dalai Lama passed this examination with honors. Then he was awarded PhD in Buddhist philosophy.

In 1939, when Dalai Lama was four years old, he was sent to the capital Lhasa. Where he met some senior officials. During this, in a special ceremony, Dalai Lama was declared the spiritual leader of Tibet. Then he was taken to Norbulinga Palace. At the age of just 15, Dalai Lama was made the President of Tibet and all the rights were given to him. On 17 November 1950, at the age of 15, he became the head of the state of 6 million people. After becoming the head of the state, problems started coming in his life.

China attacked Tibet

Due to the increasing interference of China in Tibet, Dalai Lama had to face many problems at a young age. The Chinese Communist Party started attacking Tibet in the beginning of 1950. Then in 1951, Tibet signed an agreement with China. After which China occupied Tibet. When he was made the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet on 18 April 1959, then Tibet signed a forced agreement with China. Even after illegal occupation of Tibet, China did not stop its activities.

In 1954, Dalai Lama went to Beijing to talk to many Chinese leaders like Mao Zedong, Deng Xiaoping about the withdrawal of troops from Tibet and peace agreement on the China trip. But that conference was unsuccessful. In 1959, Dalai Lama was forced to exile after Chinese forces brutally crushed the Tibetan national movement in Lhasa. In 1959, Dalai Lama had to take refuge in India and since then he is living in India. Currently, Dalai Lama is living in Dharamshala city of North India. From here he is handling the work of Tibet.
