As AAP prepares to stage a protest at the BJP headquarters, Delhi Police said the party had not taken its permission to hold the demonstration. AAP has called for a gherao of the BJP headquarters at 11.30 am against the arrest of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in a money laundering case linked to the liquor policy. A senior police officer said arrangements were being made to stop the protesters as no permission had been taken for any protest at the BJP headquarters on DDU Marg in central Delhi.

The official said barricades have been put up and paramilitary personnel have been deployed at the spot. He said if needed, the protesters can be detained as Section 144 of CrPC has already been imposed on DDU Marg. The road has not been closed yet, the official said. The AAP said its national convenor Kejriwal was arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a false case.

Kejriwal is already in Tihar jail in connection with his alleged involvement in a money laundering case being probed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The Delhi liquor policy case involves alleged irregularities in the 2021-22 excise policy, including amendments, undue benefits to licensees and extension of L-1 licences without prior approval. The CBI is probing the corruption allegations while the ED is investigating the alleged money laundering aspect.
