Panaji: A convention of Hindu leaders in Goa on Wednesday demanded the disqualification of AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi for “praising Palestine” after he was sworn-in as a Lok Sabha member. Hindu leaders passed a resolution against the Hyderabad MP at the ongoing 12th edition of the Global Hindu Rashtra Mahotsav in Ponda taluka of South Goa. Ramesh Shinde, national spokesperson of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti, which organised the convention, said Owaisi raised slogans of “Jai Bhim, Jai Mim, Allahu Akbar and Jai Palestine” after he was sworn-in as an MP in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

He said Article 102D of the Indian Constitution states that if a person shows allegiance to a foreign state, he shall be disqualified from being a member of either House of Parliament. “Showing allegiance to a foreign nation while taking an oath to serve this nation is not only treason but also a national insult,” Shinde said. Those who attended the Hindu Sammelan unanimously passed a resolution demanding that he be disqualified from the 18th Lok Sabha at the earliest. He said the resolution will be shared with the Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister.
