The new daily direct flights from Chennai to Jaffna have reduced the travel time from Chennai to Jaffna to 75 minutes.

Mumbai: Domestic airline IndiGo launched its daily flight service from Chennai to Jaffna in Sri Lanka. IndiGo said Jaffna is the airline’s second destination in Sri Lanka after the capital Colombo and its 34th international destination. IndiGo said the new daily direct flights from Chennai to Jaffna have reduced the travel time from Chennai to Jaffna to 75 minutes. IndiGo operates over 2,000 flights to 122 destinations, including domestic and international.

IndiGo said this strategic route (Chennai-Jaffna) will strengthen cultural and business ties between India and Sri Lanka, which are marked by cooperation in various fields such as commerce, infrastructure development and air connectivity. Vinay Malhotra, IndiGo’s global sales head, said, “This short but important flight is a strategic milestone that will further boost business and tourism between India and Sri Lanka.” The airline said the demand for travel between Chennai and Jaffna is evident, with over 21,000 passengers travelling on this route in just nine months last year.
