Special counsel Jack Smith filed a fresh indictment three days before the deadline to do so. Trump, in a statement shared on the social media platform Truth Social, called the new indictment a “desperate move” and said that this indictment is another attempt to target him. He said that the new indictment also has “all the problems that the old indictment had and it should be dismissed immediately.”
