Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday refuted the allegations of state Leader of Opposition and BJP leader Jairam Thakur, who claimed that he saw a drone over his house and accused the state government of violating privacy. Sukhu said that if such activities take place, the government is ready for investigation. Sukhu told ANI, “Why would we fly a drone over his house? He was a former CM. I have also assured him that if such things have happened, we will investigate it, but he is making it an issue. He has no issue left.” Sukhu said that he will also ask the central agencies whether ED and CBI are doing this spying. He will also write a letter to both the central agencies for this.
Earlier in the day, in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, former Chief Minister Thakur alleged that he saw a drone above his house while leaving for the House proceedings. He accused the government of already tapping phones and now using drones for surveillance. Jairam Thakur said that today when I was leaving for the Assembly, I saw a drone above my house. This government is violating privacy. Phones are already being tapped, and now drones are also being used for surveillance. The CM should have responded to this but he remained silent on it.
Earlier on Thursday, the BJP staged a walkout in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, accusing the state government of auctioning liquor shops in five excise districts at prices lower than the reserve price. Replying to a question by BJP’s Randhir Sharma, CM Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu said the state government earned ₹485.18 crore from its auction-cum-tender policy while ₹665.42 crore was collected during the BJP’s five-year tenure. Sukhu said the auction was conducted with complete transparency.
