YEARS

Abdullah said that this country is known for its unity in diversity. We have every religion and every state, whether it is Tamil Nadu, Kashmir, Bengal or Maharashtra, any state, every state has a different culture and hence India is a federal structure and we have to protect every religion.

Politics has intensified tremendously over the ending of the namaz break in the Assam Assembly. Questions are being raised by the leaders of Congress and India Block. However, the BJP seems to be standing with the decision taken by the Himanta Biswa Sarma government. Amidst all this, many statements have come from National Conference leader and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Farooq Abdullah. He is completely angry with this decision taken in Assam and is appealing to the government to respect all religions.

Abdullah said that this country is known for unity in diversity. We have every religion and every, whether it is Tamil Nadu, Kashmir, Bengal or Maharashtra, any state, every state has a different culture and so India is a federal structure and we have to protect every religion. He further said that when the time comes, it will change. Nothing is permanent. Good things will prevail again. He said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir should also respect and protect the people of every religion. He said, “We have to take care of the people of every religion. When our attitude towards them is good, it will be good in the whole country.”

When asked about PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti calling NC vice-president Omar Abdullah’s remarks about the banned Jamaat-e-Islami as “regrettable”, the NC chief said nothing will be achieved by pointing fingers at each other. Omar had recently said that the banned Jamaat-e-Islami (JEI) once considered elections “haram”, but now it has become “halal” for them. Abdullah said, “I will not say anything about them. May God bless them. They should choose their own path, but think about protecting the country. Nothing will be achieved by pointing fingers at each other. They should stay away from this path.”
