Former Pakistani captain made fun of PSL, praised IPL

Former Pakistan captain Rashid Latif has expressed his displeasure over the flaws in his country’s cricket structure. During this, he revealed how Pakistan failed to manage cricket. Apart from this, Latif has also praised cricket management in India. He said that India has created a cricket industry. Whereas Pakistan has failed miserably in doing so.

Let us tell you that IPL is the richest cricket league in the world in terms of money. IPL has become a global brand. Big players from India and abroad are eager to play in it. On the other hand, the level of Pakistan Super League is still the same as it was in the beginning.

Latif’s pain has spilled out after the T20 World Cup 2024 ended. India has ended the 11-year ICC trophy drought by winning the tournament. On the other hand, the Pakistan team was eliminated from the stage itself. According to a News18 report, Latif said, India has developed its cricket industry just like its film industry. We see cricket as a hobby so we could not turn it into a business. PSL is still where it started. The highest salary is $1.40 lakh. Why can’t they increase it further? Why can’t we have players like Mitchell Starc or Pat Cummins in our league? Because we have no money so there is no business.

The former Pakistani captain further said that, it is not that India has become a big force in world cricket only after the recent World Cup. Looking at 2007, 2011, 2015, they have gained a lot of knowledge from foreign coaches. Also they are working at the grassroots level without getting noticed. Then came the IPL and now they have all the best brains. They also have Ponting of DC, Hussey and Bravo. But what are we doing.

Latif said that Bangladesh Premier League has also progressed a lot in comparison to PSL. He said that more foreign players play in BPL than PSL. Latif said that those who had conceived PSL were thrown out within a year. They had a vision to expand it, but it never happened. More foreign players are playing in Bangladesh than here. Moeen Ali and David Miller are there because they have money. We could not move forward.
