Former RBI governor gets a place in Britannia, gets a big responsibility

Former RBI Governor Urjit Patel has now got a new responsibility. Urjit Patel has now joined Britannia Industries. This information has been given by Britannia Industries. The company said in an exchange filing that it has appointed former RBI Governor Urjit Patel as one of the additional non-executive independent directors on the company’s board for a period of five years.

The appointment is subject to the approval of the board at the upcoming Annual General Meeting to be held on August 12. It is worth noting that Urjit Patel served as the 24th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) between 2016-18. He was also the Deputy Governor in RBI since January 2013. Between the years 2013-2018, he was the Deputy Minister in the G-20, BRICS Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors Groups.

During the year 2022-24, he served as Vice President (Investment Operations Area 1) at the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank. The Britannia Board also appointed Sunil Lalbhai as the Chairman and Managing Director of Atul Limited for a term of five years.
