FSSAI is preparing to take action against restaurants, the matter is related to the menu, know here

There are thousands of restaurants in India, which generally work according to the rules set by FSSAI. All these restaurants are now going to be adversely affected. Especially those restaurants where the rules issued by FSSAI are not being followed.

FSSAI has decided that now action will be taken against those restaurants which have 10 or more outlets and who have not yet declared the nutritional information in their dishes. This information has been given by Economic Times quoting officials of Food Safety and Standards Authority of India.

These are the rules for restaurants
FSSAI has made it mandatory for centrally licensed restaurants having a minimum of ten outlets and e-commerce food business operators to put labels on their menus providing information to consumers about the calorie value and nutritional content of the food.
According to the report, although this regulation came into effect in July 2022, only a limited number of restaurants are announcing it.

According to the report, FSSAI will issue notices to all non-compliant restaurants and give them a deadline to comply. The report also states that this is likely to start from this year’s festive season.

How have restaurants responded to FSSAI regulations?
“Many large and medium-sized restaurant chains already have manual books containing nutritional information along with their menus as keeping such details with the menu becomes unreadable,” the report quoted Sagar Daryani, vice-president of the National Restaurant Association of India (NRAI), which represents over 500,000 restaurants and is also the founder of fast food chain Wow! Momo, as saying.

“We can provide information such as fat and sugar on our menus, but it would be unfair and unrealistic to compare it with a chain that only sells salads, for example,” the report quoted a senior executive at a large fast-food chain as saying. “We are a quick-service chain, and we offer certain types of foods that consumers prefer to order.”
