So much voting took place in Gujarat

An Election Commission (EC) official said that in the third phase of general elections on Tuesday, 37.83 percent voting took place in 25 Lok Sabha seats of Gujarat till 1 pm. 265 candidates are in the fray for 25 of the 26 Lok Sabha seats in the state. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won the Surat seat unopposed after eight of the nine eligible candidates withdrew their nomination forms. BJP candidate Mukesh Dalal was declared the winner.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Gujarat Chief Electoral Officer P Bharti were among the early voters. Prime Minister Modi cast his vote at Nishan School in Ranip area of ​​the city. Shah exercised his franchise at a polling booth in Naranpura area. Both of them come under Gandhinagar Lok Sabha seat.
