Incidents of atrocities against women are increasing in Maharashtra. Addressing a press conference in Nagpur, Raj Thackeray said, from rape to dowry and molestation, incidents are increasing year by year.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Saturday condemned crimes against women and expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in Maharashtra. Thackeray said there is no fear of law in the state now, if he is given a chance, he will show how the government is run. His remarks came in the wake of public anger over the sexual assault of two kindergarten girls at a school in Badlapur in Maharashtra’s Thane district. What happened in Badlapur is terrible and unfortunate. Women functionaries of my party raised this issue. But incidents of atrocities on women are increasing in Maharashtra. Addressing a press conference in Nagpur, Raj Thackeray said, incidents from rape to dowry and molestation are increasing year by year.
He said that in 2023, more than 7,000 rape cases were registered with the police in Maharashtra. The number of unreported cases is much more than this. Cases of removal of uterus of female sugarcane workers are being seen on a large scale in Beed, Sangli. And despite so many incidents, there is no strict law. He said that crimes against women are not happening only when the Mahayuthi government is in power, but these atrocities also took place during the previous Maha Vikas Aghadi government.
Raj Thackeray said that today both are only blaming each other but it is unfortunate that no one is serious about these incidents. Thackeray said that he does not blame the police for the deteriorating law and order situation. Instead, he pointed fingers at the government and said that the police are under heavy pressure from the ruling authorities, which makes them powerless in critical situations. Thackeray said that you may think that Raj Thackeray is just speaking for the sake of it, but it is not so. I am telling you this very seriously.
