Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot has written a letter to the state Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh regarding the alleged MUDA scam. He has asked her to investigate the matter and submit a detailed report with documents as soon as possible. The letter states that the Mysore Urban Development Authority has carried out works worth Rs 387 crore in his constituency Varuna and Srirangapatna constituency on the verbal instructions of the Chief Minister, in violation of Section 15 and 25 of the Karnataka Urban Development Authority Act, 1987. The petitioner has also pointed out that the decision has been taken on the verbal instructions of the Chief Minister despite the lack of availability of funds in the authority.

Earlier, Union Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader H D Kumaraswamy also accused Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of getting a house constructed on a plot allotted to a differently-abled Dalit man during his tenure as Deputy Chief Minister. He said this is not the only allegation against the Chief Minister in Mysuru regarding the illegalities related to the allotment of 14 plots to his wife in a layout by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA). The Governor has approved an inquiry against Siddaramaiah in connection with this allegation.
