Green will not be able to play in the test series against India, will undergo back operation

Melbourne. Australia all-rounder Cameron Green will miss the Border Gavaskar Trophy Test series against India due to a stress fracture in his spine. This 25-year-old player will undergo an operation on his back which will take him six months to recover. He came to know about this during his visit to Britain last month. Cricket Australia said in a statement, ‘It is common for fast bowlers to have stress fractures in the spine but there is some problem in the area near Cameron’s fracture which can be considered the cause of the injury.
Green’s stay out for six months means that he will not be able to play not only in the Border Gavaskar Trophy but also in the tour of Sri Lanka in February and the Champions Trophy. His playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL) is also doubtful. Fast bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, James Pattinson, Jason Behrendorff and Ben Dwarshuis have also undergone this type of operation and Green also chose the same option. “After consultation with doctors, it was determined that Green would benefit from surgery,” Cricket Australia said. Before this, this type of operation of many fast bowlers has been successful. It will take about six months to recover from this.
The first match of the five-Test series between India and Australia will be played in Perth from 22 November. Green’s absence means Australia will have to make changes to its batting order. Green returned to the Test team after opener David Warner retired earlier this year. Due to this, Steve Smith had to start the innings. Smith was not successful as an opening batsman and may be dropped back to his preferred number four position against India.
