He noticed that in the morning when Adi Shankar was going to take a bath in the Ganga during Brahma Muhurta, he stood in front of his path as the most untouchable person.
A big statement of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has come out on Gyanvapi. Yogi Adityanath said that Gyanvapi is Vishwanath himself. The CM said that some people call Gyanvapi a mosque. Addressing a gathering at an event in Gorakhpur, UP, the Chief Minister said that When Acharya Shankar came to Kashi, Lord Vishwanath himself brought a test for him. He noticed that in the morning when Adi Shankar was doing his penance in the Brahma Muhurta, When they are going to take a bath in the Ganga, he stands in their way as the most untouchable person. Naturally, Acharya Shankar says, get out of my way. The Chandal asks a question that you consider yourself the embodiment of knowledge, whom do you want to remove? Your knowledge is looking at this physical body. It is looking at the Brahma residing inside this physical body. If Brahma is true, then the Brahma residing inside you is also inside me.
By knowing this Brahman truth, you are rejecting this Brahman. This means that your knowledge is not true. Acharya Shankar was so angry that such a thing came from the mouth of a Chandal. He said that I want to know who you are? The answer was that the Gyanvapi for whose worship Yogi stops in the middle and says that unfortunately today people call it a mosque. But that Gyanvapi is Vishwanath himself. Yogi then tells the story of Acharya Shankar and says that the Chandal said that the Gyanvapi for whose worship you have come here from Kerala, I am Vishwanath himself. So he bows down before him.
Point to be noted is that Gyanvapi is made up of two words Gyan + Vapi. Which means the lake of knowledge. Actually, water is important in the tradition of Kashi. There is a well inside the complex of what is being called Gyanvapi Masjid, which is called Gyanvapi. There were five sources of water there since thousands of years. It is said in Skanda Purana that Lord Shiva himself created this well with his trident for Lingabhishek.
