Haryana Elections 2024. Congress’ lies will not work, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini claimed that BJP will win with a huge margin

Haryana Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini said that people are aware of the fate of big promises made by the Congress in Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana, but the party’s “lies” will not work in his state. Saini expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will again form the government with an absolute majority in the assembly elections proposed in Haryana on October 5. He said that the party will accelerate the ongoing development work in the state.
Talking to PTI-Bhasha after addressing an election rally at Siwan in Kaithal district, Saini said, “As you can see, there is tremendous enthusiasm among the people. The BJP will form the government for the third time, that too with an absolute majority.” The chief minister addressed a rally in favour of BJP candidate Kulwant Bajigar from Guhla constituency on Saturday. Targeting the Congress, he said that everyone knows about the big promises made to the people of Himachal, Karnataka and Telangana before the elections.
Saini alleged, “It is nothing new for them to mislead people by lying to grab power.” He said, “Take the example of neighbouring state Himachal Pradesh. What happened to the Congress’ promise of one lakh jobs annually to the youth, Rs 1,500 per month to women and free electricity in Himachal? Did they fulfill these promises?”

Saini said, “People of Haryana know the fate of Congress’ false promises. Their lies will not work here.” He said that unlike the “false” promises of Congress, BJP fulfills what it says. In Haryana, Congress has promised to provide financial assistance of Rs 2,000 per month to women between 18 and 60 years and gas cylinders for Rs 500 if it comes to power. On the other hand, BJP’s election promises include financial assistance of Rs 2,100 per month for women, two lakh government jobs for the youth and government job guarantee for the state’s Agniveers.
When asked about Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda’s claim that the Haryana elections will be a direct fight between his party and the BJP, Saini said, “Whatever he says, the BJP is going to win by a huge margin.” He said, “Earlier during the Madhya Pradesh elections too, Congress people used to say that it was a close contest. How many seats did they (Congress) get there? The results of Haryana will surprise them again and the BJP will register a big win.”
Saini claimed that the BJP government in Haryana has ensured equitable development and is committed to accelerate the pace of development if it returns to power. The Chief Minister said that the government has taken several decisions for the welfare of various sections including farmers, poor, women, youth. He said that the BJP has given transparent administration and made recruitments on the basis of merit. Karnal MLA Saini has been fielded by the BJP this time from Ladwa seat in Kurukshetra district. He has been a BJP MP from Kurukshetra Lok Sabha constituency between 2019 and 2024. In March 2024, the BJP made Saini the Chief Minister of Haryana in place of Manohar Lal. Manohar Lal is now a Union Minister.

A total of 16 candidates are contesting from Ladwa. A tough fight is expected between Saini and sitting MLA and Congress candidate Meva Singh in the area. Singh has claimed that people have made up their mind to oust the BJP government from power. He said, “I have been serving Ladwa for the last 25 years. He (Saini) was an MP for five years, what did he do for Ladwa? He cannot count even one work that he did for Ladwa while being an MP.”
In the last three elections in Ladwa, the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), BJP and Congress have won once each. Prem Chand, who runs a shop in Ladwa, told PTI that apart from farming, many people in the area have government jobs. He said, “Many of those who got jobs during the last ten years were from backward communities.” However, Prem Chand believes that more efforts need to be made to improve the infrastructure. He said, “The sewer system also needs a lot of improvement.”
When asked how he sees the contest as Chief Minister Saini is contesting from Ladwa for the first time, Prem Chand said, “The Chief Minister has been an MP from Kurukshetra, so Ladwa assembly constituency has been a part of his parliamentary constituency earlier.” Prem Chand claimed, “Besides, Saini “samaj” is a big vote bank in Ladwa. Generally, people of this community vote unitedly.”
At an autorickshaw stand in Ladwa, there is a heated discussion on how the elections will turn out in the coming days. Some believe that Ladwa and other assembly constituencies in the state will see a close contest between the Congress and the BJP. However, according to autorickshaw driver Jai Bhagwan, “Elections come and go. We have to earn our daily bread… Being an autorickshaw driver, I would say that if the Ladwa bypass road is built, it will provide relief from traffic jams.” Voting for the 90-member Haryana Assembly will be held on October 5. The counting of votes will be done on October 8.
