Will Congress come to power in Haryana in the Assembly elections 2024 or not? The answer to this will be known only after voting on October 5 and counting on 8. At present, Congress is busy releasing the list of its candidates. At present, the party has declared candidates for 41 out of 90 seats of Haryana Assembly. The candidates for the remaining 49 seats are also about to be announced. As soon as the 41 names of Congress candidates were announced in Haryana, there was a stampede. Many leaders left the party and went to another party. If the rebellion in Congress continues to increase, then the dream of returning to power in Haryana after ten years will remain unfulfilled this time too.
Factionalism and rebellion in Haryana Congress
Jitendra Hooda may contest the election as an independent candidate after Induraj Singh Narwal got the ticket in Baroda.
Dr. Kapoor Narwal, who was close to former CM Bhupendra Singh Hooda, even left the party because of Narwal.
Many leaders including Parmendra Singh Dhull got angry due to the candidature of Vinesh Phogat in Julana.
Brijpal and Pinky Chhappar have left the party due to the nomination of Renu Bala in Sadhaura assembly constituency.
In Nilokheri assembly constituency, former minister Ramkumar Valmiki has decided to contest the election as an independent.
Prem Hingakhedi got angry due to the candidature of Ramkaran Kala from JJP in Shahabad assembly constituency.
Shailja Kumari vs Bhupendra Singh Hooda
Factionalism among Congress leaders cannot be ruled out in Haryana Mahasangram 2024. The political conflict between Sirsa MP, big Dalit face and Congress General Secretary Shailja Kumari and former CM Bhupendra Singh Hooda has already come out in the open. Shailja Kumari has staked claim for the CM post while Bhupendra Singh Hooda is having his way in deciding the party candidates. Seeing no alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party, the Congress has released two lists of 32 candidates on the night of 6 September 2024. In which bets were also placed on 28 current MLAs.
In the first list of Congress candidates, Bhupendra Singh Hooda has more influence than Kumari Shailja. 28 leaders of Bhupendra Singh Hooda and only 4 leaders of Kumari Shailja’s faction have been given tickets. Kumari Shailja targeted Bhupendra Singh Hooda in an interview to News18 India and said that he should decide in his own house who will be the Chief Minister. In the interview, Shailja called herself a contender for the post of CM. Earlier, during the election campaign, Shailja had even said that wherever she goes, the workers call her CM.
Congress’s position in Haryana elections
BJP formed the government in Haryana by winning the assembly elections of 2014 and 2019. On the other hand, Congress has been out of power in Haryana for the last 10 years. In the last election, BJP won 40 seats and Congress won 31 seats. BJP formed the government by forming an alliance with JJP which won 10 seats. In this election, Congress wanted to form an alliance with Aam Aadmi Party, but things did not work out. Due to lack of consensus on seat sharing, Congress is contesting all 90 seats on its own. However, Rahul Gandhi wanted an alliance between Congress and Aam Aadmi Party.
