Senior Congress leader and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja has been away from the party’s campaign for the Haryana assembly elections for the last three days. In such a situation, the discussion of her displeasure has intensified. If she is really angry, then it can be considered a big setback for the Congress before the elections. Let us tell you that Kumari Selja, one of the most senior Dalit faces in the party, has influence in many assembly constituencies of the state. At present, confusion is also visible among the party workers regarding Kumari Selja. Anger is spreading among the supporters of Kumari Selja as well as the Dalit community.

It is being claimed that Kumari Selja is angry due to the negligence and indecent comments during ticket allocation. This is why she is staying away from campaigning for Congress candidates. One of the reasons for Kumari Selja’s anger is that Bhupendra Singh Hooda was given more importance in ticket allocation. His close ones have not been given tickets. It is being alleged that Hooda’s close ones have been given tickets on 72 out of 90 seats.
Selja, who is also the Congress general secretary, did not attend the manifesto launch by party president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday and has also not been campaigning on the ground lately. Moreover, Selja, who is known to be active on Twitter, has posted only twice on social media platforms in the last three days. She posted a screenshot of the Congress’ seven guarantees for Haryana on September 18 and a video of incidents of arson at Dalit houses in Bihar a day later. “The incident of arson and firing at 80 Dalit houses in Bihar’s Nawada shows that even today Dalits are marginalised in society,” she wrote in her September 19 post.

As Selja, who was once a key figure in deciding the Congress strategy for the state, appears to take a step back at this crucial juncture, speculation of internal strife in the Congress has intensified. Her silence could have a negative impact on the party’s electoral prospects, preventing it from consolidating votes. Congress sources said Selja had sought 30 to 35 seats for her camp. However, the Congress high command allotted 72 tickets to the Bhupinder Singh Hooda camp. Selja also failed to secure a ticket for her close aide Dr Ajay Chaudhary from the Narnaund assembly seat.
