Haryana Political Crisis: If no-confidence motion is brought, JJP will vote against the BJP government, Dushyant Chautala announces!!

Haryana Political Crisis: A day after the BJP government in Haryana lost majority after three independent MLAs withdrew their support, Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) leader Dushyant Chautala on Wednesday announced that the party will vote against the Nayab Singh Saini-led government. . In case of no-confidence motion, the no-confidence motion is brought by the leader of the opposition Bhupendra Singh Hooda.

Addressing a press conference, Chautala said, “If the BJP government is toppled quickly, they will provide support from outside to facilitate the fall of the government.” He emphasized that now it is for the Congress to decide whether they will take steps to topple the BJP government or not.

Chautala made it clear that as long as his whip has power he will have outside support and his MLAs will vote as per the instructions of the whip. He further said that if the floor test is held today, JJP MLAs will vote to overthrow the government.

Notably, JJP, an offshoot of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD), has 10 seats in the 90-seat Haryana Assembly. In October 2019, the party formed an alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to establish a coalition government. However, the partnership dissolved in March this year.

3 independent MLAs withdrew support

Three independent candidates, who were earlier in favor of the BJP, have now withdrawn their support and extended their support to the Congress. According to reports, former CM Hooda and Congress State President Uday Bhan have informed that Dadri MLA Sombir Sangwan, Nilokheri MLA Dharampal Gondar and Pundri MLA Randhir Golan have announced their support to Congress.

Randhir Golan, an independent MLA who has withdrawn support from the BJP-led government in Haryana, said, “For the last 4.5 years we have supported the BJP. Today unemployment and inflation are at their peak. In view of this, we (the government) Have withdrawn their support. Independent MLA Dharampal Gonder said, “…when he needed our support to form the government, we were called again and again…we had decided that as long as Manohar Lal Khattar is in power, we will support ”Sadly, he is no longer in power…In the interest of farmers, we withdraw support from the government…”

Will the BJP government fall?

In terms of numerical strength in the Assembly, the government came into minority. However, this does not mean that the government will fall. There are 40 BJP MLAs, 30 Congress and 10 JJP MLAs in the House.

At present there is no threat to the government in Haryana. Saini took oath as Chief Minister after the floor test in the Assembly on March 12 this year. According to the rules, there should be a gap of 6 months between two floor tests. In such a situation, the opposition cannot bring a no-confidence motion till September 2024 and assembly elections are to be held in Haryana in October-November this year. This means that the BJP government is safe in the state.
